Advanced laser treatment is emerging as a sleep dentistry solution for patients who suffer from sleep apnoea and snoring.
While snoring may be a source of aggravation for the snorer (and their partner), there are more serious health implications to consider if you have snoring problem. Snoring is often a symptom of sleep apnoea, a condition where breathing stops and starts during sleep. Obstructive sleep apnoea occurs when throat muscles relax and the breathing airway is restricted. Potentially life threatening, some signs that sleep apnoea may be present include:
- A sore throat and/or headache when you wake in the morning
Snoring loudly while sleeping
Waking intermittently during the night with a sensation you’re choking or gasping
Low energy levels during the day, including sleepiness
Poor memory and mood changes.
